2 months ago, Ukrainians remembered electricity work by hours for the first time in the history of independence. As of December 9, half of the country’s power system has been destroyed. Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian power plants are not stopping. However, Ukrainians receive electricity to sustain life. Local electricians as well as foreign aid help not stay in absolute darkness.
Recently, on the Ukraine government's website, it became known that Japan is preparing to provide a second package of energy aid. This was agreed upon during the meeting between the minister of energy and the coal industry of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko with representatives of the Japanese international cooperation agency JICA. As part of the arrangements, Ukraine will receive equipment for the repair of power plants: wires, cables, insulators, breakers, transformers, etc.
Slovenia also plans to help Ukraine in December. Foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine expects the supply of 300 electric generators.
On 7 December, it was reported that energy aid from Estonia and France had also arrived in Ukraine. Kyiv has taken 100 generators, which are designed to mitigate the consequences of Russian strikes on the electric stations this winter.
