On October 17, 2022, the EU Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine was created. EUMAM conducts specialised military training for soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territories of different EU countries.
On December 6, Norway and the European Union signed a resolution under which Norway is donating NOK 150 million (≈€14.5 million) to the European Peace Fund for 2023. Funds from the fund are directed to the prevention of armed conflicts and strengthening the security of non-EU countries. Norway became the third country to donate money for the welfare of Ukraine during the war.
"Norway's financial support to the EU Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine will give an additional boost to train and equip the Ukrainian Armed Forces as they continue their courageous fight against the Russian aggression. With our partners, we will continue to assist Ukraine in every way we can, for as long as it takes," Josep Borrell.
Norway expressed its desire to help Ukraine back in November. The signing of the voluntary financial contribution resolution guarantees the agreement's formalisation and Norway's participation in the training and material support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
We remind you, that Josep Borrell called the Ukrainian army one of the best armies worldwide.
