10th Session of the Ukrainian-American Trade and Investment Council

On the agenda are the abolition of duties on steel imports, the protection of intellectual property, the renewal of the agreement on trade and investment cooperation

On November 9, the annual meeting of the council of Ukraine and the USA started. Katherine Tai, US ambassador, and Oksana Markarova, the Ukrainian ambassador to the US, discussed fundamental cooperation issues between the two powers. The priority is the abolition of duties on steel, agriculture, and land reclamation.

Following the requirements of the United States, to abolish duties on imported steel, it must be wholly smelted in the exporting country. And Ukrainian steel is completely smelted in Ukraine. Thus, we have reason to hope for a positive outcome of the discussion on steel duties.

“With a growing share of digital services in our exports to the United States, we are also initiating a digital trade agreement with the United States. Of course, many questions are devoted to intellectual invest.com/investing-in-ukraine/business-for-sale/buy-property/" rel="dofollow">property issues. It is worth noting how the trading world is changing. The US administration notes in its policy the interests of ordinary workers, the efficiency of agriculture and the provision of food security in the world, incentives for climate modernization of the economy. We fully share these principles. So, within the framework of the trade and investment council, we are talking about how to ensure sustainable development, protect workers and the environment,” said Yulia Svyrydenko, deputy economic development and trade minister of Ukraine.
