14.000 Singers Choir Performed the Ukrainian Anthem in Latvia

For the first time in 150 years of the biggest song contest in the state, the song was not sung in a foreign language

The All-Latvian song and dance festival is held once every five years. This year, the event organisers decided to express firm support for Ukraine and allowed the Ukrainian team Dudarik to sing on the stage in Riga. Since 1873, this is the first change in the competition's history.

The choir of Lviv national chapel Dudarik came to the country's main stage with the anthem of Ukraine. Ukrainian performers were supported by an orchestra of the Latvian national guard and 14.000 singers. For viewers and listeners, the organisers made a parallel translation. In addition, the Latvian choir of diplomats carried the flag of Ukraine at the parade of participants of the all-Latvian holiday. Ukraine appreciates this support because it gives a chance to be heard and reminds the world about what is happening in the country.

The song festival in Riga took place from June 30 to July 9. Ukrainian choir all these days took part in performances. On July 4, the Ukrainian choir performed at the Drama theatre of Riga at the concert of the national minorities Saules dziesmu audekla.
