40 Countries Collaborate on Establishing a Special Tribunal for Russian Aggression Against Ukraine

In partnership with the Council of Europe, Ukraine has initiated steps towards establishing a Special Tribunal to address the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine

On April 30, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe directed its Secretary General to draft documents that will support the Core Group's discussions on a potential agreement between Ukraine and the Council of Europe for the tribunal's formation.

Ukraine's Ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, highlighted that the process would consider all suggestions provided by the Secretary General. He emphasized the strong international backing for the tribunal, underscoring the global commitment to holding Russia accountable for its war against Ukraine and its people.

Currently, the Core Group, which is dedicated to the tribunal's creation, includes 40 countries. These nations are actively developing specific mechanisms to establish and launch the Special Tribunal, showcasing a united international effort to address and respond to acts of aggression by Russia.
