The numbers that point to children suffering from Russian aggression continue to rise. According to published official data, Russia crippled the lives of 1.444 children. The largest number of children were affected in the Donetsk region – 455, Kharkiv – 275, Kyiv – 128, Kherson – Zaporizhzhia – 89, Mykolaiv – 89, Chernihiv – 70, Dnipro – 67, Luhansk – 66. Another 109 children were injured in more remote areas. All these children are of different ages, 964 of whom have injuries of varying severity.
The lives of 480 Ukrainian children are permanently over because of the Russian Federation's war in Ukraine in 439 days. This means that the Russian armed forces kill more than 1 child every day.
At the same time, the prosecutor's office notes that these figures have been collected only from the territory controlled by Ukraine. The fate of the children who were captured by the aggressor is still unknown. Note that the invaders stole more than 300.000 children during the war. By the end of February 2023, more than 16.000 officially verified children had been taken to Russia.
Recall that the Kremlin does not hide its crimes against Ukrainian children. Politicians openly declare the removal of Ukrainian children from their territory. Putin and the commissioner for child's rights in Russia, Mariia Lvova-Belova, became International Criminal Court criminals who must answer for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.
International law recognizes the borders of Ukraine as they were before the beginning of the Russian open aggression in 2014 – annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and capture of part of the Donbas. Therefore, the Geneva Convention applies to all children living in Crimea and the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
