Due to the Russian attack on Ukraine, the integration of the energy system of our country into ENTSO-E was formed and took place in mid-March. Now the network of European electricity operators is ready to discuss with Ukraine steps for conducting energy business between states.
"Following an emergency synchronization of the two networks on March 16, which ensured the security of supply for the two interconnected energy systems, transport network operators from continental Europe agreed on steps to open electricity trade with Ukraine while ensuring the energy security of the region," the European Commission said.
Joint work of the national operator of the electric system of Ukraine Ukrenergo and TSO Europe is on the agenda. Moreover, Ukraine has been appointed an observer member of ENTSO-E.
"I applaud the decision of the European TSOs to open electricity trading with Ukraine following a successful emergency synchronization in March. The process will be gradual and will be carried out on clear terms agreed with Ukraine," European commissioner Kadri Simmons.
