The state-space agency of Ukraine is working on a project to build a national space launch facility based on a maritime platform. The project is currently estimated at $1.7 million.
The floating cosmodrome will be called Sea Start. The head of state of Volodymyr Taftai noted that $1.7 million for constructing a cosmodrome is a small price. He specified that the technological links and infrastructure of Ukrainian invest.com/investing-in-ukraine/starting-business-in-ukraine/build-an-enterprise/" rel="dofollow">enterprises would be used to implement the project.
At the same time, it isn't easy to estimate the cost of maintaining such a spaceport.
The larger the missile, the higher the cost. And the cost increases exponentially. Therefore, the emphasis was placed on the development of a light missile to meet Ukraine’s needs. In addition, it is economically expected that the project will be of interest in placing satellites in orbit. Thus, it will be attractive to both the operators of the space system and those who launch the satellites, that is, the customers.
The Sea Start is planned to be built by 2025 based on a sea platform and launch missiles from the Atlantic or the Indian Ocean.
