Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the result of the competition for the post of head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Bureau of Ukraine is absolutely logical. According to Zelenskyy, the effective functioning of the anti-corruption body is impossible without a competent leader.
"The appropriate person has been elected and the finalization of this decision depends on the competition commission," the president said in his daily video message to Ukrainians.
The EU ambassador to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, said that from the entire list of requirements for Ukraine to the EU, the appointment of the head of the SAB is the least difficult from a technical point of view.
"Back in December, the commission for the appointment of SAB completed its work. So, really, if you ask me what is technically the easiest from this list (EU recommendations), then this item should definitely be. We are waiting for further steps by the Ukrainian authorities," Matti Maasikas.
The president of Ukraine said that the appointment of a new head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is next since the term of his powers has expired. The post of the new head of the NAB will be announced for the competition.
"Instructed the prime minister of Ukraine to intensify the process of launching the relevant competition," Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to president Zelenskyy, even in the conditions of war, the employees of the anti-corruption system of Ukraine carry out their professional duties, and many of them defend Ukraine at the front. Moreover, on February 24, 7 employees of anti-corruption services were honored with state awards for services to Ukraine.
"However, the full functionality of any state body can only be used when there is an effective leader. Therefore, this competition is also very important," Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
