A Meeting of the PM of Ukraine and Pope Francis
Shmyhal told His Holiness about what is happening in Ukraine now and "how Ukrainians every day are forced to fight for their lives in the war that Russia unleashed."
The prime minister expressed gratitude for the support of the Vatican, humanitarian aid and the acceptance of Ukrainian children for rehabilitation after Russian captivity. Shmyhal expressed hope that the Holy See would also support the implementation of the Zelenskyy "Peace formula" and other tools that Ukraine uses to end the war as soon as possible.
"In particular, to the process of returning prisoners and deportees, restoring justice and fixing the end of the war," Denys Shmyhal.
As a gift to the holy throne, Shmyhal brought an album that tells about the bloody incidents of the last year in Ukraine, as well as a figurine of a porcelain rooster — a modern unofficial symbol of the resilience of Ukrainians. This figurine is almost the only thing that survived after the Russian shelling of the house in Borodyanka. The same rooster was once given to Boris Johnson when last spring, he went for a walk in Kyiv, accompanied by Zelenskyy.
