Algeria Reopens Embassy in Kyiv

In March 2022, due to the start of a full-scale war, the diplomatic institution temporarily ceased operations in Ukraine

Due to the Russian full-scale attack on Ukraine, almost all embassies of foreign countries moved from Kyiv to the west of Ukraine and then relocated to Poland. Already six months later, the first embassy returned to Ukraine, and as of the end of February, almost all 129 diplomatic institutions have restarted their work in the capital of Ukraine.

In March 2022, representatives of the Algerian embassy also left Ukraine. On February 27, 2023, the Ministry of foreign affairs of Algeria announced the "as soon as possible" opening of the embassy in Kyiv.

"This decision falls within the framework of preserving the interests of the Algerian state and the interests of the national community in this country," Algerian state TV concerning the MFA.

The diplomatic representations of the European Union, OSCE, Council of Europe, UN, and NATO did not leave Ukraine all this year.
