American Development Finance Corporation Establishes Permanent Presence in Ukraine

DFC strengthens its investment and support in Ukraine, with a permanent team now based in Kyiv to enhance financial and political risk management

The American Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has established a permanent presence in Ukraine, with its representatives now working on-site in Kyiv. This move signifies a deeper commitment to supporting Ukraine's economic development and resilience amidst ongoing challenges.

The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Ukraine announced the development, highlighting a productive meeting with DFC specialists Caitlin Candee and Anthony Pollak, who are now permanently stationed in Ukraine. Their focus includes project finance, political risk insurance, and investment advisory services, crucial for fostering economic stability and growth in the region.

Pollak, who has been active in Kyiv since July 2024, also represents the CrossBoundary group as an investment consultant, further reinforcing the investment landscape in Ukraine.

The DFC, which is the successor to the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), has significantly increased its investments in Ukraine. Prior to Russia's full-scale invasion, DFC's investments in Ukraine amounted to $800 million. Since 2022, this figure has more than doubled, with an additional $848 million invested, bringing the total portfolio to approximately $1.6 billion as of August 12, 2024.

This enhanced presence and investment in Ukraine by DFC underscore the United States' ongoing support for Ukraine's economic recovery and development, especially in these critical times.
