April 3, when Bucha was liberated from Russian occupation and the world saw the "Russian world", which the Russians embodied in the fullness of their ugly soul in Ukraine. President Zelenskyy was one of the first to comment on the death in every Bucha house.
"Concentrated evil has visited our land: murderers, executioners, rapists, looters who call themselves the army. And who deserve only death after what they did."
Separately, the president spoke about the measures thanks to which these terrible, bloody events would not have happened in our country, and Russia would not gain momentum as a country full of hatred for Ukraine.
"Today is the 14th anniversary of the NATO summit in Bucharest, then there was a chance to remove Ukraine from the gray zone between NATO and Russia. Then, in 2008, the refusal to accept Ukraine into the Alliance was hidden, and the senseless fear of some politicians towards Russia was hidden. I invite Mrs. Merkel and Mr. Sarkozy to visit Bucha and see what Russia's policy of concessions has led to in 14 years. To see tortured Ukrainians and Ukrainian women."
"I don't want to be misunderstood: we don't blame the West. But we have the right to talk about the indecision that led to such a Bucha."
When one of the hotbeds of the Russian genocide against Ukrainians, which was clearly manifested in Bucha, flew around the world with bloody testimonies, the entire world community reacted to it. However, Angela Merkel, whom Zelenskyy directly addressed, did not comment on the horrors that could have been avoided. The D_P_A agency sent Merkel a request for comment and received a response through a representative of the former chancellor:
"Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel supports her decisions in connection with the 2008 NATO summit in Bucharest. Given the atrocities that are becoming visible in Bucha and other cities in Ukraine, all efforts by the federal government and the international community to be on the side of Ukraine and put an end to Russia's barbarism and war against Ukraine, the full support of the former chancellor," said Angela Merkel's spokeswoman.
On April 4, Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally arrived in Bucha. A BBC journalist asked the president why he invited Dr. Merkel to visit Bucha. Direct speech:
- Because I think she heard my signal perfectly. And not only she. I addressed both her and other leaders of Europe, Mr. Sarkozy. Who, as you and I know, made important decisions. Or, let's put it this way, they were under the influence of both the Russian Federation and some other leaders. But, above all, under the influence of the Russian Federation. I also think the internal establishment when they applied the decision regarding Ukraine. This whole story, these insinuations about open doors to NATO, when we know that most of the European states and NATO members supported Ukraine as a member of the Alliance back then, in Bucharest. And we know perfectly well who those leaders are. And I believe that Angela is among those leaders of the leading countries on whom the decision depended whether Ukraine should become a member of NATO. Therefore, I believe that what is happening is precisely the game of giveaway in front of the Russian Federation, to allow them to gain a foothold and feel that they have a very strong influence on the opinion of the European Union of many countries. So I think that they need to come and see what flirting with the Russian Federation turns into.
Adviser to the head of the office of the president of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, reacted to the latest events: “Mrs. Merkel’s reaction to the proposal to look at the atrocities of the Russians in Bucha indicates that the Western elites still remain in dangerous illusions. and the corresponding conclusions of the forensic experts."
