On May 10, during a visit to Ukraine, the German MFA announced the restart of the diplomatic bridge between the states

Due to the Russian attack on Ukraine, the German embassy, ​​like many other embassies, was forced to evacuate from Ukraine. In the coming days, the work of the German embassy will be restored in Kyiv. However, so far, with a minimal presence of a diplomatic group.

Annalena Baerbock announced this during a joint press conference with the Ukrainian minister of foreign affairs, Dmytro Kuleba.

Today the embassy operates partly from Poland and partly from Berlin. We remind you that today Greece also announced the return of the embassy (to Kyiv) and the consulate (to Odesa).

Germany is one of the last countries to return its embassies to Ukraine. The EU, France, Italy, Great Britain, Austria, and other countries have already taken this important step. Of the G7 countries, only Japan has not returned its representatives so far.
