Bakhmut. The Most Terrible Point of the Donetsk Region

For the 5th time, the Russian military command has set deadlines for its army to reach the border of the Donetsk region. And this border is Bakhmut.

"Like every day for at least 3 months, the Russians storm Bakhmut as if tomorrow never comes. In fact, judging by the number of combatants and killed there Russians, the battle for Bahmut will probably be the largest battle of this war," Austrian military analyst Tom Cooper on 23 October.

This is an elderly couple from Bakhmut. The couple was seriously injured during today's another Russian attack on the town and its inhabitants. Their house is completely destroyed by the missile, and they have nowhere to go back to. The photo was taken in the city hospital: the couple is sitting in the waiting room and comforting each other.

The strategic importance of Bakhmut coincides with the extent of Lyman, which was recently liberated by the Ukrainian army: like Lyman, Bakhmut is the entry point into the territory of the Donetsk region, which is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. With the advent of winter, the front line will stall, and the Russians, having no support from their leadership, will not be able to advance or hold the conquered territories. And the Armed Forces of Ukraine will recapture the Donetsk region.
