Berlin Backs “Deep-Strike” Drones for Kyiv

Germany funds hundreds of Ukrainian An-196 kamikaze UAVs with €-hundreds-of-millions package

Germany has quietly committed hundreds of millions of euros to mass-produce Ukraine’s long-range An-196 “FEB” strike drones, Spiegel reports.

  • Drone specs: Kamikaze UAV, 2 000 km range, 75 kg warhead, AI-assisted guidance.

  • Volume: Funding covers “several hundred” units, with Ukrainian crews already trained.

  • Purpose: Target deep-rear Russian oil and logistics hubs.

  • Background: Deal follows the 28 May Berlin accord, where Defence Ministers Boris Pistorius and Rustem Umerov signed off on German financing for Ukrainian long-range weapons.

First batches are expected “within weeks,” according to German defence officials.
