Biden and Scholz Are Taken for the Economic Isolation of Russia

The president and the chancellor are planning a personal meeting to coordinate efforts to "maximize the price for Putin and his supporters and minimize the impact of this war on the United States and allied countries"

On June 23, during a briefing in Washington, John Kirby announced a meeting between the US president and G7 president Olaf Scholz.

"In Germany, the president will meet with chancellor Scholz, who currently chairs the G7, to continue close coordination within the G7 agenda, as well as key priorities that we will advance together," said John Kirby.

As part of coordinating the G7's efforts to stop Russia and retaliate against Putin, the following priorities were identified: preventing the aggressor country's defense supplies, destroying ways for Russia to avoid European sanctions, and reducing the harmful effects of the war on food and energy.

"Thanks to our actions, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Russia to make bond payments, and it is getting closer to default. "Our measures are tightening the nuts and limiting the income Putin needs to finance this war," John Kirby said.

And, of course, what worries Ukrainians, Joe Biden and Olaf Scholz will discuss strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and strengthening its position at the negotiating table with the aggressor country. According to a spokesman for the US administration, the G7's joint efforts "will maximize the price for Putin and his supporters and minimize the impact of this war on the United States and allies."
