Canada Invests in Ecomodernization “ArcelorMittal”

The province of Ontario has increased the level of public investment in the green project of a Ukrainian enterprise on its territory

The Dofasco plant, a part of the ArcelorMittal group, will be reconstructed in accordance with the environmental challenges of modern production. $394 million ($500 million Canadian dollars) will be invested in the decarbonization of the investing-in-ukraine/starting-business-in-ukraine/build-an-enterprise/" rel="dofollow">enterprise located in the territory of the eco-responsible state of Canada.

In 2021, the same enterprise already received C$400 million in funding; this year, the transformation of production continues successfully.

Dofasco will be provided with a modern blast furnace and a converter shop in one of the production departments. The new equipment will reduce CO2 emissions by 60%, which will reduce the company's costs by (approximately 2.7 million tons per year).

Commissioning of the equipment is planned for 2028. ArcelorMittal also notes that the implementation of technology will take place earlier under favorable conditions.
