It is known that one of the largest Ukrainian diasporas lives in Canada. This is one of the reasons why strong and warm relations have been developing between our states for many years. During the war of Russia against our state, Canada provides Ukraine with humanitarian and economic assistance. Justin Trudeau, a good friend of Ukraine, announced the start of work on organizing the evacuation of Ukrainian refugees by charter flights to Canada.
"When violence drives people out of their country quickly, it's important to make sure they have what they need while they settle into their new homes," Canada's prime minister.
The planes will be sent to Europe. Upon arrival, a Ukrainian who fled the war can expect to stay in a hotel for 2 weeks and financial assistance to cover basic needs.
Simultaneously with humanitarian aid, Canada allocated C$1 billion (approximately $800 million) for Ukraine. The funds will be directed to an administrative account with the IMF specially created for Ukraine.
"Yesterday, at the request of several member countries, in particular Canada, the International Monetary Fund accepted the creation of a special administrative account for directing direct financial assistance from donor countries to help Ukraine. The government of Canada will be the first to send C$1 billion through this account," prime minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
