The heavy equipment was supplied from Slovenia. The tank has a 105 mm Royal Ordnance L7 barrel with a heat projectile. It should be noted that this is one of the most successful tank guns of all time. The tank shell is covered with rocket armour. M-55S works with a digital ballistic computer and camera stabilization system Fotona SGS-55 with laser distance sensor Fotona COMTOS-55, which helps to destroy the target. The tanks have an improved engine, rubber-metal footprint, and warning of laser radiation from the enemy.
The delivery of the tanks was reported by the information bureau 24UR, referring to reports of the Ministry of defence of Slovenia.
All 28 tanks were received by Ukraine following a decision by the Slovenian and German governments on 19 September. At that time, the representatives of the countries agreed on a "circular exchange".
"In a spirit of solidarity with the Ukrainian people, prime minister Robert Golob and chancellor Scholz agreed on joint actions: the Ukrainian side will receive 28 Slovenian M-55S tanks. In exchange, Slovenia will receive 40 German military transport vehicles, namely 35 heavy trucks and 5 tanks for water 8x8," reported on September 19 in the press centre of the head of Slovenia.
