The summit International Crimean Platform was established in 2021. It deals with the return of the peninsula to the map of Ukraine and the reconstruction of cities after the Russian annexation. In 2022, the summit expanded its horizons. The permanent consultative and coordinating mechanism will now deal with economic and legislative issues.
"We have a very elaborate view on how to restore our Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea after the expulsion of the Russian occupiers. And so, we add 2 more directions to the work of the Crimean platform. This economic direction and legislative direction," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the opening of the second summit.
The president of Ukraine also reported on the adoption of a law on indigenous peoples — the Crimean Tatar, Majlis, Karaites, and Krymchaks. It was decided to support and develop the Crimean Tatar language. In addition, politicians have adopted a law on the protection of political prisoners. The document will apply to prisoners who have suffered from the occupiers because of their political views.
The economic direction will be mostly realized after the liberation of the peninsula. This sphere will affect the restoration of the cities.
"The occupation of Crimea is the original sin of Russia's war against Ukraine. And this is the basis of Moscow's renunciation of the rule of law to the jungle world," Austrian foreign minister Alexander Schallenberg stressed during the summit.
The Crimean platform was also attended by ministers and even presidents of other countries. This year, the international platform brought together 60 nations. 2 other continents, Africa and South America, joined the meeting as an important event.
