On January 31, 2023, France reported on the preparation for the transfer of self-propelled howitzers Caesar to Ukraine. In the spring, Denmark joined the initiative. On April 28, 2023, it became known that the first self-propelled artillery units had already arrived in Kyiv and were even transferred to the battlefield. The Ukrainian minister said that the project was implemented by Denmark. Serious negotiations were held to obtain the country’s combat vehicles.
"We were negotiating, it was a difficult project, today I want to show you: the first Caesar came to Ukraine, the production of France, but it is Danish Caesar," said Reznikov.
Copenhagen has also completed the training of Ukrainian gunners with Caesar. In total, Denmark reported plans to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with 19 such weapons.
Caesar has a 52-calibre barrel and takes 6 shots in 1 minute. The maximum range of the gun is 42 km. The artillery is designed to defeat enemy manpower. 18 such howitzers are already operational in Ukraine. Ukraine received them from France for 14 months after Russia invaded foreign territory.
