On June 6, the occupiers committed a terrorist act on one of the most important reservoirs of Ukraine – the Kakhov hydroelectric power plant provides cooling of the reactors of the Zaporizhzhya power plant. Through the destroyed rowing, water is rapidly drained. The height of the wave reaches 4.8 meters in height, speed - 24.4 km/h. Flooding in the southern part of Ukraine will last 3-4 days. In the upper part of Ukraine is expected a decline of water. The water level has already fallen by 10 meters in the Dnipro river in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to the official report of the state company Ukrhidroenerho, the storage facility is not subject to restoration.
By 11 a.m. today, the water will reach critical levels. In some areas, it will even flood trees. Therefore, settlements close to the hydroelectric power plant already carry out mandatory evacuation by bus. The railway operator of Ukrzaliznytsia announced the beginning of the evacuation of the population from Kherson. The train will depart from the station at noon. If necessary, additional trains will be assigned.
The head of the Kherson regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin said that 16.000 residents of the region were in the critical zone. More than 80 settlements may be flooded due to terrorist acts of the Russian Federation.
The Ukrainian government also called on the people on the left side of Kherson (the occupied part) to take care of their security.
