Dress in Exchange for Ukrainian Victory

The winner of "Eurovision-2016" sold a dress at auction and gave money to the Ukrainian army

The singer Jamala represented Ukraine at the Eurovision song contest-2016. Becoming the winner, the singer ordered a dress for the opening ceremony of the Eurovision song contest-2017 in Kyiv. Ukrainian designer Yuliia Mahdych made a white dress with red patterns. The designer’s work cost $173.000.

But peace ended, and Jamala began to do everything to help the Ukrainian army. The singer performs all over the world. All the money collected at the concerts she transfers to the needs of defenders of Ukraine.

She also meets representatives of the political elite. She already knows the First Lady of Turkey. According to the Ukrainian singer, political acquaintances help to tell the world about Russia’s crimes against Ukraine.

But financial support for the army is always necessary. Therefore, in her official Instagram profile, Jamala talked about the auction. On 10 May, the singer put her dress on the market. In addition to the winner of the Eurovision song contest-2016, the auction was attended by 11 other representatives of Ukraine at the song competition.

"From now on, the dress I was wearing to open the Eurovision in Kyiv is available for purchase at a Catawiki auction. The proceeds go to war-affected Ukrainians and the Ukrainian army," Jamala said.

The auction ended on May 18. The dress sold for almost $276 thousand. The received money has already been sent to the fund Yellow-Blue to help the Ukrainians.
