Ukrainian drone company DroneUA has opened its first office in the United Kingdom. Co-founder Valerii Yakovenko said the new office is located in London’s Knightsbridge district and will become an important step in the company’s international growth.
Why the UK
DroneUA explains the move by the UK’s strong focus on innovation, defense cooperation with Ukraine, and a mature tech and investment ecosystem.
“The UK is known for supporting innovation and looking to the future — just like we do,” Yakovenko noted.
A physical presence in London will help the company:
-
work directly with British customers and partners,
-
take part in joint R&D projects,
-
and integrate into European and UK supply chains in drones, robotics and data services.
Part of a bigger expansion
This isn’t DroneUA’s first move abroad. Earlier, the company launched an engineering center in the United States, and in February 2025 it officially registered its trademark there to enter the North American market. The London office adds another pillar to this international setup: R&D in the US, engineering and production in Ukraine, and business development in the UK.
Why it matters
The UK is one of Ukraine’s key partners in defense tech and unmanned systems, so having an office on the ground makes it easier to:
-
pass local compliance and certifications,
-
pitch solutions to government and corporate customers,
-
and join British or joint UK–Ukraine innovation programs.
In practice, it means Ukrainian drone engineering is no longer seen only through the “war” lens — it’s entering the segment of civilian, industrial and dual-use solutions demanded by developed markets.
What’s next
DroneUA is building itself not just as a local integrator, but as an international tech company. The London office is a tool for that — a gateway to investment, pilots, and long-term partnerships in Europe.
