Denys Shmyhal said on Twitter about the strengthening of support for Ukraine from the European Union. The union countries are ready to send combat supplies worth €2 billion. Part of the military assistance is already being prepared for shipment. The cost of the first part of the assistance is €1 billion. The second part of the financial resources will be allocated to purchase the necessary shells, so their delivery to Ukraine will take place later.
This kind of assistance from the allies is now essential for Kyiv. Because the success of military operations, holding territories, and their liberation will depend on a sufficient number of shells.
"All this will bring our victory and peace in Europe closer. We are grateful to the European Commission for its diligent work, fair position, and solidarity with Ukraine," thanked the Ukrainian prime minister.
In addition, he noted that such assistance became available through several decisions on the part of Europe. Recently, the European Commission voted in favour of the munitions support act. The act is based on the European Council's decision to increase the defence industry's resources. The document also considers the need for urgent armed assistance to Ukraine.
