€25 Mln by European Program for Ukraine

The European Union will launch a humanitarian program to demine the de-occupied territories of Ukraine

Prime minister Denys Shmyhal and European Union's high representative for foreign and security policy Josep Borrel met in Kyiv. Politicians discussed the security of Ukrainians in the territories liberated from Russian soldiers.

European countries are actively participating and call the desire to help Ukraine in the reconstruction of housing, critical infrastructure, and cleanliness of the land. In the view of the EU, one of the details of the reconstruction of the country should be the removal of remnants of ammunition from the liberated territories. Therefore, Borrel has announced a humanitarian program that will make the land safer. The European Union is to spend €25 million on the project. This will allow returning of de-occupied villages and cities from Russian terrorists forever.

Today, more than 30% of the territory of Ukraine is contaminated by explosive objects. Russians daily continue to throw dangerous objects about 40 hectares of land. Internationally, this is the highest level since World War II. It will take 3 to 10 years to eliminate the consequences of this war. The cost of cleaning 1 m² is estimated to be at least $4.

Shmyhal and Borrel also discussed the importance of introducing the 10th package of European sanctions. The Ukrainian politician stressed that restrictions should be imposed on the Russian nuclear sphere, including the state company Rosatom.

Note that the first results of the business visit of EU leaders to Ukraine are already known.
