The president of France continues to negotiate with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Volodymyr Putin actively. At the same time, Macron notes that he is on the side of Ukraine. The press service of the Elysee Palace reports that during the last conversation, Emanuel Macron asked Zelenskyy about the needs for military equipment, political, financial support, and humanitarian aid.
"The president of France promised the president of Ukraine to remain interested in the war, to react quickly to meet the needs of Ukraine, including heavy weapons," said in a statement.
Also, the new French foreign minister, Catherine Colonna, visited Kyiv in May. She prepared Ukraine for a quick response to the arms request. In particular, her statement concerned heavy weapons.
Now Ukraine is waiting for concrete actions from France, and the presidents of the 2 countries remain in touch. Macron and Zelenskyy also maintain telephone communication in the context of the European Commission's decision to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union.
Recall that Ukrainian politicians are waiting for the visit of the French president to Ukraine. Macron has never come to Kyiv since the beginning of the Russian war against Ukraine.
