EU Gave Ukrainian Police 60 Cars and Equipment for €3,4 Mln

The national police of Ukraine received 18 patrol cars, 40 police buses, defibrillators, servers and data storage systems, as well as a bomb suit and related equipment

The rule of law reform support program in Ukraine in the areas of police, prosecution and good governance (PRAVO-Police) is implemented with the financial support of the EU by the UN Office in close cooperation with the EU Advisory Mission to Ukraine (EUMM).

The minister of internal affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky thanked his colleagues from the European Union for their willingness to cooperate and for the provided equipment.

"Behind each vehicle, armor, I see saved lives and increased security of Ukrainians. This is a concrete substantive contribution of the EU to Ukraine's security. The European Union provides models of building law and order in modern Ukraine, and those models that work, we will use. It's the Scandinavian model of building law and order at public events, it's a community policing approach because the main indicator is the level of citizens' trust in the police", said Monastyrskyy.

Patrol cars will be used in nine regions of Ukraine — Kirovograd, Lviv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Poltava and Khmelnytsky regions.

Thanks to modern servers and data storage systems, the Ukrainian police will more effectively coordinate their activities with Interpol and Europol in combating organized and cross-border crime.
