Metsola shared her arrival through a post on the social network X, stating, "Again in the country of the brave. In Kyiv on Europe Day."
Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, welcomed Metsola at the Kyiv train station. He highlighted the significant role of the European Parliament in supporting Ukraine, noting it was the first EU institution to advocate for granting Ukraine candidate status for membership in the European Union.
Stefanchuk praised the European Parliament for its robust support in forming an international coalition backing Ukraine's fight for freedom and European values, as well as for its efforts in facilitating arms supplies to Ukraine and intensifying sanctions against Russia. "The European Parliament has always had a strong voice in these matters, and Ukraine will always appreciate that," he added.
