Against the background of Russia's war against Ukraine and the official martial law on the territory of Ukraine, men of military age are forbidden to leave the country. On August 27, prime minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced that from now on, a sailor could leave the country strictly for professional reasons.
"Sailors will be able to cross the border only with the consent of the territorial manning centre," Denys Shmyhal.
What is meant: the crew of all types of commercial vessels and cadets who need to practice on a ship can go outside the waters of Ukraine upon presentation of permission from the military registration and enlistment office. According to the minister, Ukrainian sailors make up the lion's share of the global maritime business. Today, more than 100.000 Ukrainians work in this area. By the way, one of the most potent maritime cities that train first-class sailors is Mariupol.
Permission for the departure of Ukrainian sailors will restore thousands of jobs and stabilize our country's economy.
