Execution of Ukrainian Defenders of Mariupol

The terrorist organization that runs so-called Donetsk People's Republic proposed to execute the captured fighters from the factory "Azovstal"

The minister of justice of the occupied part of the Donetsk region (so-called Donetsk People's Republic) Yurii Syrovatko told on Moscow TV channels about the "only possible" fate for the Ukrainian Azov regiment. In his opinion, for Ukrainians who defended Mariupol for more than 80 days, there is only one supreme punishment — execution.

"In advance, I can say that there are those in custody who will be given the highest sentence. According to the criminal code, the DPR is an execution," said Yurii Syrovatko.

It should be noted that the death penalty was inherited by Ukraine from the USSR. But the country, having become independent, began the European path. Already in 1995, it had introduced a moratorium on cruel punishment. In 2000, Ukraine ratified the Protocol of the European Convention on Human Rights on abolishing the death penalty. European countries do not accept this type of punishment.

Russia also renounced the death penalty, but only in 1997. But now, followers of the "Russian world", terrorists captured Donetsk and Luhansk regions and execute people.

This type of punishment of criminals is in the criminal code of the republics. However, firstly, the republics are not recognized by the civilized world and are considered temporarily occupied territories. Secondly, the Ukrainian soldiers of the Azov regiment are not criminals. They were protecting civilians, even when the occupiers surrounded them in a pile of metal at the Azovstal plant. There is no blood on the hands of the Ukrainian defenders other than the blood of the occupiers. That is why they proudly left the last Ukrainian point in Mariupol and surrendered on the orders of the Ukrainian leadership. These people know where the truth lies and hope for arbitration from European countries.
