On July 6, 2023, the Finnish government continued the provisions to ban Russian citizens from crossing their border.
"This policy decision updates the government's policy decision of September 29, 2022."
In accordance with the state government's decision, Finland prohibits citizens of the Russian Federation from entering its territory and transiting to other countries of the Schengen zone. For business owners/employees, real estate owners and students, certain conditions have been formed:
- Russian citizens employed in Finland have the right to stay only in Finland but not to use a trip to this country as a transit to another state;
- Business travellers and business owners are required to have a specific reason for being in Finland;
- Students have the right to stay in Finland only under the condition of obtaining a scientific degree.
The government of Finland obliged the Ministry of foreign affairs to take these provisions into account during issuing visas to Russian citizens and the Border guard service during allowing Russian citizens to enter the country.
