F-16 Fighter Jets Transferred to Ukraine Will Be Based in the Country, Says Sullivan

The F-16 fighter jets that are being transferred to Ukraine will be stationed on Ukrainian territory, confirmed US President National Security Adviser Jacob Sullivan in an interview with PBS

"It is planned to deliver the F-16s to Ukraine. And the bilateral security agreement signed by President Biden and President Zelensky confirmed this statement: we want to help Ukraine get this capability. It should be a capability based in Ukraine," Sullivan explained, responding to a question about the possibility of deploying fighter jets outside of Ukraine.

This statement clarifies the US commitment to strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities directly within its borders. The deployment of F-16s in Ukraine is seen as a significant move to bolster the country's air defense amidst ongoing conflict and security challenges.

The confirmation of the F-16s being stationed in Ukraine follows extensive discussions and agreements between the US and Ukrainian leadership, highlighting the strategic military support the US is providing to Ukraine. This development is expected to enhance Ukraine's ability to defend its airspace and maintain sovereignty.
