Expo 2020 is a World Expo, currently hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. Originally, it has been scheduled for October 2020, but eventually was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite being postponed, organizers kept the name Expo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes.
World Expos take place every 5 years and can last for a duration of 6 months. Their main goal is to demonstrate the achievements of different countries.
Ukraine took part in the expos before, but did not build its own pavilion, but rented the finished structure. This year, for the first time, Ukraine did not use the rented one, but created its own pavilion. In January, the construction of the Ukrainian pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai was completed.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with first lady Olena Zelenska, have already visited the World International Exhibition Expo 2020 in Dubai, where he got acquainted with the presentation of the national pavilion and the exposition of Ukraine at the exhibition.
The theme of our pavilion is Smart Ukraine: uniting the world. It should demonstrate the innovative spirit of Ukraine, reveal its cultural heritage and unite people around global problems.
The pavilion is designed in the shape of an ear of wheat. It’s divided into three thematic groups: smart life, smart thinking, smart feelings. Each of the groups reveals the possibilities of rational, technological and ecological existence through the prism of technologies and tools available today to the majority of the world's population.
The pavilion will show Ukrainian art and innovative products of domestic production. They announced an exhibition:
- vytynanki (these are patterns, pictures cut from paper);
- an exposition Wheat Field with digital and nano-wheat;
- a gold-blue multimedia art cube Thinking, an interactive bar with a robot bartender;
- a multimedia gallery Smart Life, drinking water generators Smart Oasis Lounge;
- a rover capable of traveling 380 kilometers on a single charge;
- smart blinds that generate electricity.
