The Ministry of defence of Ukraine and Rheinmetall signed a contract to produce a forward surgical team — a mobile hospital for emergency surgical operations in the field. The system for damage control surgery consists of a truck, a trailer, 6 containers, a generator and a water tank, and a Siemens Healthineers x-ray machine. The system is mounted simply in the field/forest/on the front line and can hold a charge for up to 48 hours. The assembled FST is a complex of a reception and triage area, an X-ray shelter, a preoperative and operational shelter, and an intensive care unit.
Systems worth several million euros each were purchased under the German state program Enable & Enhance. They will be produced and delivered to Ukraine by the end of this year or early 2024.
