France Reinforces Its Concern for Ukraine

In September, the UN Security Council will hold 3 meetings on the Russian-Ukrainian war

In September, France will preside over the UN security council. French foreign minister Catherine Colonna wants to hold 2 meetings in connection with the situation in Ukraine. Also, an additional meeting would be held on the forced transfer of Ukrainians to the territory of the Russian Federation.

The first meeting will be held on 7 September. The extraordinary meeting will be devoted to the forced displacement of people in Ukraine. The United States of America and Albania requested a meeting of the Security Council based on available data. It is reported that in the six months of the aggression, the Russian Federation has forcibly evicted more than 2 million people from their hometowns and the country. Ukrainians were most often transported to Rostov on the Don, Russia, settled in filtration camps, and selected documents. It is known that there are cases when only children are taken out of the country.

Another meeting will be held at the request of Russia. The aggressor country convened a meeting of the Security Council on the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

"Yes, Russia has indeed addressed this issue, and it seems that we will meet early next week to do so. The terms of this meeting have yet to be determined. Still, if it takes place, we will ask IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to report on the results of his mission," the French ambassador to the United Nations Nicolas de Riviere informed.

On September 22, a meeting will be held on all parameters of the Ukrainian crisis. It will be headed by Catherine Colonna. It is reported that the Security Council wants to see the Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine Kuleba and the Russian Ministry of foreign affairs Lavrov at the meeting.

"On the morning of September 22, the French foreign minister will preside over the UN Security Council ministerial meeting. The main theme will be impunity and justice," said Nicolas de Riviere.
