France to Consider Localization of Production in Ukraine

Ukrainian economy is open for investment projects with France, the government is ready to support investors in the implementation of projects in the engineering, transport, electrical equipment production and mining industries

This was reported by the press service of the cabinet of ministers with reference to the minister of economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Lyubchenko.

During a meeting with representatives of MEDEF International (non-profit private-funded organization), which was on June 24 in Kyiv, he noted that Ukraine has now formed a priority group of industries for investment projects: engineering, transport, energy, agriculture, food production, light industry and processing.

"We invite French companies to mutually beneficial cooperation. For our part, we offer acceptable conditions for doing business, a favorable geographical location for building logistics, labor force and markets", said Lyubchenko.

President of the association MEDEF Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux said that many French companies already work closely with Ukrainian enterprises, and interested in deepening cooperation, in particular, in the implementation of infrastructure projects, and are ready to consider options for localizing production in Ukraine. 

France ranks sixth among European countries by the volume of bilateral trade in goods with Ukraine with a share of almost 5% of the total volume. According to the results of 2020, the volume of trade between the countries amounted to more than $2 billion, including export - $592 million, import - almost $1,5 billion. According to the results of 4 months of this year, the volume of bilateral trade in goods has increased by almost 16% as compared to the same period of the last year and amounted to $855 million:

  • export increased by 34,4% and amounted to $235,5 million
  • import increased by 10% and amounted to $619,7 million.
