Greece to Support Ukraine’s Air Defense and Odessa Port Restoration

Zelensky and Mitsotakis agree on strengthening air defense and launching logistics initiatives in Southeast Europe

Greece will help Ukraine strengthen air defense and restore Odessa port

President Volodymyr Zelensky held a bilateral meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to discuss key areas of cooperation amid the ongoing Russian aggression. The focus was on enhancing Ukraine's air defense and restoring critical infrastructure, including the port of Odessa.

🇬🇷 Greek Support for Air Defense

Greece confirmed its intention to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense system, responding to the growing number of Russian missile and drone attacks. The support may include systems, components, and training, although specific details have not yet been disclosed publicly.

🤝 NATO Procurement Tool

Zelensky also announced progress on a new NATO-led mechanism that will enable joint procurement of American weapons. This tool is expected to streamline allied contributions and ensure faster, coordinated defense support for Ukraine.

⚓ Restoration of Odessa Port

Kyriakos Mitsotakis proposed an initiative to restore the port infrastructure of Odessa, which has suffered repeated strikes during the war. This includes:

  • Rebuilding key terminals

  • Strengthening maritime logistics

  • Developing transport corridors in Southeast Europe

Ukrainian and Greek teams have already begun practical work on the implementation of this initiative.

🌍 Regional Cooperation Expands

In parallel developments, Ukraine also deepened cooperation with Denmark in maritime security, signaling broader regional involvement in safeguarding Ukraine’s export infrastructure and freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.

The agreements between Ukraine and Greece mark a new stage of strategic partnership aimed at defense modernization and post-war economic recovery, especially in key sectors such as logistics, trade, and critical infrastructure.
