UNICEF and the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine work on creating a mine safety training program for schoolchildren

Given that the war has gripped Ukraine, the Russians are polluting the territory with explosive devices, the danger will haunt people even after the end of hostilities. Since February 24, 2022, finely safe items have harmed the lives of over 500 children in Ukraine. The UN monitoring mission reported this. In addition, the Russian army has contaminated about 30% of the territories with explosives. Demining territories, according to approximate calculations, will take at least 30 years.

Therefore, the Ukrainian educational process will include mine safety training. Obtaining knowledge of safety in the environment is dangerous items will be mandatory for Ukrainian students. The development of the program was carried out by the Ministry of education of the country and the UN Children's Fund.

The program is designed for children of all ages and teachers. In particular, there are already:

  • Training programs in the form of animated series for children from 3 to 10 years;
  • Cartoons, puzzles, tasks for children 8-16 years old;
  • Information posters;
  • Games;
  • Online lessons adapted for school students of all ages;
  • Psychologists' advice on working with children in this field of study;
  • Manual for teachers.

Compulsory classes will be held this year. More than 5.000 teachers and social workers have already been trained and trained by UNICEF. After graduation, graduates conducted mine education classes for more than 640.000 children from Ukraine.
