The agreement was signed in the presence of Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, the South Korean Ambassador to Ukraine, Hyun Tae Kim, and representatives from both companies.
This partnership will focus on the development of new power units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP, utilizing AR1000 technology. It also includes the establishment of production facilities in Ukraine for equipment localization.
"The signing of this memorandum marks a significant step forward in building a resilient energy sector in Ukraine, aligning with the best global standards, even as we continue to face the challenges of war," stated Minister Galushchenko.
The collaboration is part of South Korea's broader support for Ukraine, which has included humanitarian aid and equipment essential for bolstering Ukraine's energy infrastructure amidst ongoing Russian attacks. The South Korean ambassador reaffirmed his country's commitment to assisting Ukraine, highlighting the plans to provide additional diesel generators and support through international organizations. This cooperation is expected to enhance the exchange of nuclear technology and expertise between Ukraine and South Korea, further deepening ties in the nuclear sector.
