IAEA Heading to Kakhovka

The mission will study the situation at the Kakhovskaya HPP and draw up a plan to overcome the crisis

A few months before the Russian army blew up the Kakhovka nuclear power plant, the Ukrainian side repeatedly stated that the invaders had mined the dam. Now we have to deal with the consequences of this ecocide and a severe hit to the economy.

Rafael Grossi, after negotiations with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced his intention to send an expert team to the site of the Kakhovka tragedy, fix the situation, analyze the facts and propose a plan to mitigate the consequences of the Kakhovka tragedy. This step is also important because the safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant depends on the safety of the Kakhovka HPP.

The president of Ukraine again stressed that the presence of Russians on the territory of the hydroelectric power station was illegal, the presence of Russian occupiers on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is also illegal. And while the invaders are at nuclear facilities, the Kremlin has the opportunity to use the atomic blackmail card.
