"The new forecast balance for 2022 envisages an increase in electricity production by 2.5% — up to 161 billion kWh," said first deputy minister of energy Yurii Vlasenko.
Capacities used by Ukrainian energy today:
- 52% of electricity in the country should be generated by nuclear generation - almost 84 billion kWh. At the same time, in January-February 2022, the load on nuclear power plants will increase by almost 22% compared to the same period in 2021;
- The volume of renewable energy in the forecast balance for 2022 has also increased by 21% compared to 2021. It will be up to 15 billion kWh;
- Thermal power plants in 2022 should produce 42 billion kWh, thermal power plants and cogeneration — 9.8 billion kWh, hydropower plants and PSPs — a total of 8.6 billion kWh.
Today, the main load in the power system of Ukraine is borne by nuclear generation. As of November 26, 13 of the 15 nuclear power units are operating, carrying a load of about 12,000 MW.
Thermal generation is provided with the necessary energy resources to balance the energy system.
