Innovations Work: What and How Ukrainian Farmers Sow in 2025

A new survey shows farmers increasingly rely on Ukrainian-produced seeds, international hybrids, and modern agrotechnologies

Survey Results from the Seed Association of Ukraine

The Seed Association of Ukraine (NAU) surveyed more than 100 farmers across different regions. The results highlight a mix of reliance on local and international genetics, combined with rapid adoption of innovations.

  • 54% of respondents said they use seeds of Ukrainian production.

  • 39% believe Ukrainian seeds are fully competitive, while 8.9% categorically disagree.

  • Many farmers interpret “Ukrainian” not by genetics but by place of production.

For example, while corn and sunflower hybrids are mostly of foreign selection, a large share of seeds are produced directly at Ukrainian facilities.

Which Seeds Are Leading the Market

Corn Hybrids

  • Corteva Agriscience Ukraine LLC: P9361, P0217, P9889, P9610

  • Monsanto Technology LTD: DKS3939, DKS3972

  • Scientific and Production Farm "MAIS COMPANY": DMC Krok, DMC Forsage

  • GENEX UKRAINE LLC: MK 3131

Sunflower Hybrids

  • Pioneer Overseas Corporation: P64LE25

  • Corteva Agriscience Ukraine LLC: P64LP130

  • Syngenta Crop Protection AG: Suvex, Sures, SI TEOS

Notably, 88% of farmers said they sow or plan to sow new hybrids in the coming seasons.

Technology as a Game Changer

Farmers report that modern innovations directly improve efficiency and yields. Among the most popular tools and techniques:

  • GPS navigation and drones for precision farming;

  • Satellite monitoring and remote control of equipment for better resource management;

  • Agrotechnical innovations, including:

    • Strip-Till;

    • variable seeding rates;

    • cover crops to maintain soil fertility and protect against erosion.

Why It Matters

The survey confirms that Ukraine’s agriculture is rapidly modernizing, even under wartime conditions. Farmers are actively experimenting with new hybrids and agrotechnologies, making the sector more resilient, efficient, and globally competitive.
