Intellectual Property Protection in Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved European integration changes to some laws on the protection of intellectual property rights

By signing an association agreement with the European Union, Ukraine assumed several obligations. In particular, Ukraine is obligated to better protect intellectual property owners' rights. The adopted law on amendments to laws on intellectual property puts into effect mechanisms that streamline acts of civil, civil procedural, and economic procedural law in accordance with the standards and requirements of the European Union.

One of the measures introduced by the law is the mandatory presentation of the original source of published content, goods and services. From now on, through the court, it will be possible to demand a ban on the publication of content through intermediaries whose actions violate the intellectual property owner's rights.
