A Ukrainian edtech integrator has launched full-cycle production of interactive education panels in Kyiv under an exclusive licence agreement with the German company StarBoard Solution GmbH. The partner, SMART TECHNOLOGIES IN EDUCATION, becomes the first Ukrainian manufacturer to assemble StarBoard-branded interactive displays on its own facilities, from original components to certified finished equipment.
The localisation covers the entire value chain: work with original German hardware and software, implementation of production processes, and passage of all certification stages for the final devices. This effectively transforms Kyiv into a regional production hub for interactive classroom panels, rather than a pure import market.
Integration into global edtech ecosystems
StarBoard Solution, headquartered in Berlin and operating globally for almost 25 years, is a recognised player in interactive technologies for education and business. Its displays, software (including SBS Note) and solutions are integrated with ecosystems such as Google for Education, Acer Education and BenQ Display. The new Kyiv production line will be able to supply equipment that is fully compatible with these environments, which is important for Ukrainian schools and universities adopting international digital standards.
Partnership with local manufacturing capacity also creates room for closer integration with regional platforms such as 1-Vision and for tailored configurations for schools, universities and corporate training centres in Ukraine and neighbouring markets.
Why localisation matters for Ukraine
Local production of interactive panels reduces delivery times, hedges logistics risks and opens opportunities to compensate part of costs through Ukrainian and international support programs focused on education and digitalisation. It also creates qualified jobs in electronics assembly, quality control and software integration, reinforcing Kyiv’s position as a technology hub.
For public buyers, the availability of locally produced and certified equipment can simplify procurement, servicing and warranty support. For private schools, universities and corporate clients, a local partner with a production site provides more flexibility in configurations, after-sales service and training.
Signals for investors and partners
- Hardware localisation. Moving from import-only to licensed production adds value inside Ukraine and can be expanded to neighbouring countries as demand for interactive classrooms grows.
- Strong edtech positioning. Integration with major global ecosystems (Google for Education, Acer, BenQ and others) strengthens Ukraine’s role in international education technology supply chains.
- Potential for scaling. If demand from Ukrainian schools, universities and business clients continues to grow, the Kyiv facility can become a base for contract manufacturing, regional exports and joint R&D in education hardware.
For investors looking at Ukraine’s education and technology sectors, the launch of interactive panel production in Kyiv is a practical example of how international brands can combine their IP and product standards with local manufacturing and engineering capacity.
