ISW: Russian Army on the Threshold of Suspending the Offensive

Analysts at the Institute of War report the possibility of suspension of the Russian army in the directions of Severodonetsk/Lysychansk

Whether the Russians capture the cities of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk or not, they will stop the offensive. Experts from the Institute for the Study of War provided this assessment of Russia's military tactics.

"The Kremlin's ideological obsession with the capture of Severodonetsk, as well as the siege of Azovstal, will obviously ultimately undermine Russia's ability to advance in Ukraine," the Institute for the Study of War said.

Recently, thieves and rapists from the aggressor country have succeeded in the areas of Severodonetsk/Lysychansk, but the battle for these cities is not of strategic importance and will not be decisive for the army of the invading country. At this time, Ukraine has made significant progress in weakening the Russian army (34.000 Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine) and qualitatively. The loss of Severodonetsk is temporary, and now Ukraine may concentrate on the strategic directions of the "cautious counterattack."
