The Slovak company Way Industries and Italian firm FAE have collaborated to localize the production of the PT-300 D demining machines in Ukraine. Additionally, Way Industries has transferred the production of Bozena-5 demining machines to the country. This development was announced by Ihor Fedirko, an adviser to the Minister of Strategic Industries.
Localized Production to Accelerate Equipment Delivery
Fedirko emphasized that global manufacturers recognize the importance of localizing production to expedite the delivery of their equipment to the Ukrainian market. By shifting production to Ukraine, these companies can reduce logistical challenges and shorten the time needed to prepare documents, ensuring that the demining machines reach Ukrainian forces more quickly.
Urgent Need for Demining Equipment
Ukraine faces a pressing need for demining equipment, with at least 300 machines required to clear territories littered with mines, cluster munitions, and other unexploded ordnance. These machines are crucial for the State Emergency Service and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which rely on international charitable foundations, volunteers, and state funding for procurement. Recently, eight demining machines were purchased with budget funds of Ukraine.
High-Efficiency Demining Machines
Ukrainian specialists have praised the PT-300 D machines for their high efficiency in clearing dangerous fields. The PT-300 D is equipped with a powerful Caterpillar diesel engine, offering either 275 hp or 302 hp. The machine is capable of moving on slopes up to 45 degrees and inclines up to 35 degrees, with a top speed of 6.5 km/h. This capability makes it an invaluable tool in Ukraine's ongoing efforts to clear mined areas and ensure the safety of civilians and military personnel alike.
The decision to localize production not only strengthens Ukraine's demining capabilities but also highlights the commitment of international partners to support Ukraine in its time of need. As these advanced machines roll off production lines within the country, they will play a critical role in restoring safety to war-torn areas and enabling the return of displaced populations.
