According to a report by La Repubblica, the forthcoming package is poised to include the SAMP/T air defense system, among other military supports.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Georgia Maloney, the decision encompasses an interministerial decree on military assistance, which includes transferring one SAMP/T system currently on loan to Slovakia back to Ukraine. Additionally, other systems will be deployed to safeguard the G7 summit location.
The new package is also expected to contain artillery, although its inclusion has seen opposition from Matteo Salvini's "League" party. Nonetheless, the proposal is anticipated to secure enough parliamentary votes for approval, reflecting Italy's ongoing commitment to supporting Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict.
