On July 18, the head of JICA, Akihiko Tanaka, was in Kyiv on a diplomatic visit. After negotiations with president Zelensky and PM Shmyhal, Mr Tanaka announced the decision to open a JICA office in Ukraine. This decision was dictated by the intention to strengthen the coordination of joint projects and speed up their implementation. Shmyhal promised that the government of Ukraine would make every effort to launch the office successfully.
Earlier, JICA provided Ukraine with loans in the amount of $581 million.
